During a match, follow one robot for a full cycle. Record the approach, the scoring attempt, and the return trip. Then watch what the drivers do after a missed pickup. Recovery can consume time that a highlight reel leaves out.

Choose an observable event

Define a pickup attempt before the match. Decide whether you count a second approach as another attempt and apply that definition throughout your notes. Record the event time so you can return to the video if you disagree with another observer.

Separate a robot’s motion from your interpretation of the driver’s intent. You can observe a stop near an obstacle. You may not know whether the team planned the stop, lost a signal, or chose to wait. Mark the interpretation as uncertain until you have evidence.

Compare similar situations

A fast cycle on an open field and a slower cycle under defensive pressure do not offer the same test. Write down traffic and starting position beside the time. Several annotated cycles can tell you more than a single fastest run.

This demo contains no match results. Use the method with a named event, its current rules, and a linked recording. Credit the teams and give readers timestamps for the observations you discuss.
